Medina College’s mission is to be an outstanding provider of innovative, engaging and enjoyable education which allows all individuals to achieve their full potential and to acquire the personal qualities, attitudes, skills, knowledge, understanding and qualifications necessary to prepare themfor the opportunities and challenges of life beyond Medina college.
At Medina, we are passionate about making a difference to young people’s lives and equipping them for futures in which they can achieve their aspirations. Our ethos is to relentlessly pursue outstanding teaching, learning and pastoral care, while maintaining focus on the needs of the individual student.
I am very proud that Medina is a happy school where students and teachers enjoy working together. A talented team of teachers provide students with the best possible opportunities in a wide range of subject areas. And our learning policy centres round independent learning, creativity, individualism, high expectations and enjoyment.
Medina College is very proud of its students who are involved in all matters related to the progress of the college. The college council and prefect teams have key roles in driving forward innovative change. There is also an active house system and extra-curricular programme which provide incredible learning opportunities outside the classroom. Medina College will be building on the success of Medina High school which reached the finals of ‘Learning outside the classroom’ last year.
In 2011, Medina High School received not only the best results in its history but also the best results on the island with 85% of students gaining five or more A* - C grade GCSEs and 53% gaining five or more A* - C’s grades including English and mathematics. Medina VIth form results have also continued to improve with significant increases in student’s average point score and the number of students going on to their first choice of University.
I believe we have a great deal to offer students on the Isle of Wight and welcome the opportunity to show you what I mean. Parents are invited to visit the college on one of our open evenings or come and see a typical working day during a college tour in October. Please do not hesitate to contact us to make an appointment or to ask any questions you may have.
