College Campus

Medina College is situated on the banks of the river Medina five minutes walk from the centre of Newport. The College inhabits a very attractive campus with buildings which are in excellent order and well set up for providing students with a 21^stcentury curriculum.

There are extensive grounds and playing fields with the added benefit of the use of a professional leisure centre. The PE department makes excellent use of these facilities so students can participate in a wide range of activities from trampolining to swimming.

As a designated Arts College we are equipped with superb specialist facilities, including a fully functioning 450 seat community theatre, a ‘black box’ drama studio, a specialist dance studio and a professional recording studio. In addition, we have numerous Apple Mac suites for music technology, graphics, art and film studies.

Next year, Medina College will continue its partnership with Solo (an IIT trust member) and once again play host to the Isle of Wight Festival. This provides a wide range of ‘money can’t buy’ opportunities and experiences for our students such as set building, artist liaison duties and even performances for festival goers.

Over the last few years, we have extensively refurbished our technology block including the purpose built hair and beauty and carpentry studios. Our science department has also been fully refurbished with nine laboratories set up to deliver a highly practical and innovative curriculum. New facilities have also been built for geography, maths and ICT, all of which incorporate the latest environmental friendly building technologies.

We are continuing to invest in the latest technologies to support students’ learning. All classrooms have access to IT and all are fitted with interactive whiteboards.  There is a full wireless network throughout the College providing a Virtual Learning Environment. In some lessons students have access to iPads and iPod Touches in classrooms to support an innovative curriculum. In addition parents are able to access data on their children through our Learning Gateway system which gives up-to-date information on attendance, behaviour and progress.
