On the first morning of the new academic year, only those students who are eligible for free home to school transport will be permitted to travel on the school bus without a ‘Scholars Term Ticket’.  Term tickets will be delivered to eligible students on the first day of the academic term in readiness for the journey home.  Medina College will be issued with term tickets, timetables and student lists for contracted home to school bus services just prior to the first day of the academic year.

Parents/Carers of students who are not eligible to free home to school transport and would like to purchase a spare seat on a contracted home to school bus, should contact the Council call centre on 821000 or visit the Council’s School Transport webpage to complete an online application form for a ‘Spare Seat Scholars Term Ticket’. The School Transport Team will review all applications in mid August to ascertain if a spare seat can be allocated and those who have been allocated a spare seat will be contacted. The cost of a ‘Spare Seat Scholars Term Ticket’ is calculated at a rate of £1 per day, payable for the full term or pro rata for the remaining days in a term in advance.

Parents of younger children are encouraged to walk to school with their child. Parents of older children may encourage their child to walk independently.  The scheme is administered by schools, with the agreement of the Parking Services section of the Isle of Wight Council.  If there is any aspect of this scheme which you wish to discuss please contact the school/college in the first instance or the Council’s Sustainable School Travel officer on 821000.  To take part in this scheme you will need a parking permit, a copy of this can either be downloaded from the college website, or obtained from the college reception office (You can also Click Here to download a digital copy)

Cycling to college
Students are encouraged to cycle to college if they wish.  A lockable bicycle shed is available on site where bicycles can be kept during the day – students will need to provide their own individual locks.  Students will need to ask a member of the Premises Team to access the bicycle shed.
